Garage Project are the rock stars of the increasingly exciting New Zealand craft beer scene. They don’t take themselves seriously and won’t hesitate to poke fun at themselves – rolling out the red carpet at the last Beervana I attended in Wellington a few years back.
But their reputation is well deserved and this tasty bohemian throw back is true testament.
‘Out of style’ according to the rule books, Pills’N’Thrills is the garage’s irreverent take on the classic bohemian Pilsner.
The combination of American Summit Hops with German malts is a surprisingly aspiring match, one that lends a bohemian reverie with an aftertaste that snaps and leaves a hint of citrus on the tastebuds.
Have it as they would back in old Bohemia with a generous head – to lock in the aromas and give you the full experience as you take each sip.
Would suit an Italian white sauced pasta or Mexican seafood as a match, maybe some Fish Tacos or a Cabonara.
8/10 as Pilsners go, easy to drink and the closest I have come to an authentic Pilsner in New Zealand. Bravo to the team in Aro.
