Galbraiths used to be my local when I was flatting in the city, many a great time was had there (shout out to the American friend of ours who fell down the stairs) and I have fondly missed it ever since moving to the suburbs.
So it is awesome to know that they have started stocking their ales in supermarkets.
This drop is stated as the big brother of that served at the actual alehouse, with original Czech ingredients and proclaimed to be bigger and bolder.
I can’t confess to knowing the younger brother – sadly having not been back to the pub in a while (yes I know I need to get out more) but no lie – this truely is another Pilsner worthy of the title.
A perfect blend of malt and hops, lends to this easy flowing Pilsner; I was instantly reminded of sitting outside a restaurant in Kutna Hora – sipping homegrown pilsners with generous heads as the sun slowly faded over the valley.
This is true testament that there is no point in re-inventing the wheel; you can never do better than a Pilsner the way it is was originally meant to be. You can play with different kind of hops all you want but the result will always be something too powerful to be worthy of the title.
Would go well with a light pasta – ranging from Cabonara to Ravioli, Caesar Salad and again Fish Tacos. Nine out of Ten for a perfect Pilnser creation.
