My first taste came with an instant familiarity toward the tried and true Orcon American style hops followed by an audible expression of ‘wow’ as I marvelled at the way Epic had managed to – through pure strength of hops – make a pale ale so very strong and so very very heavy.
Apparently I have a new friend request – Epic Orcon wants to be my friend that – as the bottle reads and I quote ‘wants to slowly warm me with hoppy goodness before charging me with the strength to befriend complete strangers online.’ Ironically followed by the generic ‘Please drink responsibility’.
After a few sips I do not quite feel the ‘charge’ to jump on chat roulette and go buck wild as per the bottles suggestion but I do feel slowly hopping to warm to this oh no wait slowly warming to this hoppy delight.
As a brief aside my first job was with Orcon and I can say that although the actual dealing with irate customers was no fun, the team of people I worked with was and I think that’s what Orcon tried to have Epic convey with its blueprint on this drop.
It’s smooth to start and as it goes down but is quickly followed by a bitter kick as the trademark Epic hops deliver a package that can not be decompiled in a descriptive grouping of words.
Although it came in a snazzy 500ml bottle it went down so well that much like Epics Ultrafast Broadband it went by way too fast.
