Yes I realise its not Friday but Friday came early this week because this news is too good to wait and it is also most definitely fabulous.
I realise I am very very late to the party on this one. After all just look at the sheer volume of discussion that is surrounding this topic.
But tonight history was made.
Not the kind of history remembered for it’s scandalously short time period. (Leave Britney ALONE!!!)
Nor the kind that results in hilariously leaked dirty text messages and potential ending to a golfing legends career.
It is the kind of history that these fine upstanding men would have been on the other side of had they lived in New Zealand. Despite their actions speaking otherwise…
History was made despite those who thought democracy was failing simply because they could not understand that the majority thought differently from them (isnt that how democracy works?).
It was made because there were those strong and brave enough to stand up for something and it was made despite blatant ignorance.
Tonight those of conflicting political allegiance and ideals set aside differences and united under a brilliant universal rainbow.
Tonight sanity, love, understanding and justice prevailed.
Note: Yes I realise its just the first reading but my politically informed friend in Britain suggests that when bills pass the first reading the same result usually holds true the whole way through.
